Ison Springs now has AR tests available for students! This is exciting news! Basically, students will take short tests on books that they have read 2 or more times. Students must pass the test with a score of 80% to earn points toward a goal. Students who meet their goal during the year will be able to attend some type of "Point Party" at the end of the year! Below is a picture of what the interface looks like & a document with more information about AR tests. Students may only take these tests during school hours but they can take tests on book they've read at home.

Ms. McCulloch & Ms. Depietro's classes gathered to read about campaigns, discuss election vocabulary, and stress the importance of voting! Each teacher read a story: Grace for President & Duck for President. Students then voted at the class polling place for their favorite book! I hope when they're old enough they will be encouraged to vote & let their voices be heard! 🇺🇸 Duck for President was the winner!Join us on Read & Write Night for games, give aways, pirate tattoos, read alouds, treasure hunts, pirate writing activities, the book fair, cookies 🍪 & milk! Don't forget to wear your pajamas! The book fair will be November 14-17th! This is an excellent opportunity to get holiday gifts for the kids! Each class will have an opportunity to preview the books and then revisit the book fair! Parents can also attend with their child on Read & Write Night! We learned about Native American ways of life. We learned how the Creek & Cherokee Native Americans used various artifacts to hunt, make jewelry, or play games. We learned what vegetables make up "The Three Sisters" and how how they got that name. We saw a corn snake and several animal skins (beaver, bear, and turkey feathers). Ask your child about their experience and see what they can share with you about this fun field trip! |
