After much discussion, the second grade students decided on a project to help the community and deepen their learning. The theme of our project is, how can we as students help raise awareness about healthy eating and positively impact hunger in our community? The students decided the best way to help impact out community was to grow a garden so we can donate the food we produce. In order to grow a garden, we needed to research and figure out what plants need to survive, what we can grow in Georgia in the fall, and how to care and maintain our plants once they sprout. We also went in-depth into exploring the life cycle of plants. We have discovered so much along the way and found some green thumbs in our group! The students are continuing to care for our garden and eagerly waiting for the day when we can start reaping our produce!
